FAQs
- MALE or FEMALE?
- Babies/juveniles are ungendered. All tortoises need to reach a certain size to determine their sex. For example, Sulcatas have to grow to around 12 to 14 inches and by that time, females already cost more than 30 times the price of a hatchling.
- CAN YOU SHIP/DELIVER?
- For pick-up only. You can do so in person or via your trusted courier or rider. We cannot ship or deliver (this is also for your own protection as scammers usually promise to ship tortoises themselves).
- WHY DO YOU HAVE LOWER PRICES THAN OTHERS?
- We don't have a physical shop and we produce our own tortoises (we are not resellers). You get maximum value for your money.
- WHY DO YOU HAVE HIGHER PRICES THAN OTHERS?
- Our tortoises are all legally registered. This means we make the extra effort to follow wildlife laws and to fulfill government requirements. This journey took us more than a decade.
- HOW TO RESERVE?
- Just message us and let us know when you're coming and around what time. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
- DIET?
- They're currently being fed a mix of the following once daily: mulberry leaves, gumamela / hibiscus leaves and flowers, shredded opuntia cactus, tortoise food pellets available in Shopee such as Kama and Inch-Gold. We also feed vegetables such as romaine lettuce, saluyot, talbos ng kamote, kangkong, as well as grass (frog, carabao, bermuda). For other food items, please click on our caresheet.
- SETUP / ENCLOSURE?
- We have a few sample setups in this caresheet. It summarizes all you need. Each item has an expensive option and a practical option, which we hope will be very helpful.
- OTHER CARE TIPS?
- For other questions, we can discuss when you pickup the tortoise(s). It's also important to do your own research as a responsible pet owner. 99% of tortoise topics are already published in the internet. We highly recommend the tortoiseforum.org website. Also be sure to read the different topics listed in our caresheet.
